Foma Chairman Liu Qun attends, speaks at FAO Forum on Agricultural Collaboration in Support of the Belt and Road Initiative
On January 17, Liu Qun, Chairman of China Foma (Group) Co., Ltd. (Foma) attended the Forum on Agricultural Collaboration in Support of the Belt and Road Initiative hosted by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and organized by the Center for International Agricultural Research, CAAS at Beijing Landmark Towers. More than 130 government officials, scholars and business executives from diverse fields explored the opportunity of supporting agricultural cooperation under the "Belt and Road" framework, and discussed four topics: promoting the development of inclusive value chain, agricultural e-commerce, transboundary animal and plant disease control through A "One Health" approach, and innovation and cooperation.
At the forum, Liu delivered a keynote speech sharing Chinese enterprises' experience in overseas forestry investment, stressing that forestry is a branch of great agriculture, and efforts should be made to exploit advanced technologies and management experience to conduct scientific cultivation and rational planning of woodland, increase the comprehensive utilization rate of timber and accomplish the sustainable development of forestry. This not only fits in with the "Belt and Road" Initiative on common development, closely integrates with the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and boosts different countries' efforts to achieve the goal of sustainable development.
